  Godogan

The tale 'Godogan', is a Balinese version of the familiar fairy tale about the princess who marries a frog.

A performance based on this tale was established in 1967 by a well known Topeng Dancer, I Made Jimat, with the accompaniment of genggong (Balinese folk musical instrument made from bamboo or palm-leaf), called Godogan.

I Made Jimat uses a typical set of Topeng masks to present the story. Topeng and Baris provide the vocabulary of movement, supplemented with realistic pantomime in the portrayal of the frog.

The frog costume is a modern creation, based on a green jumpsuit.
